Default Any easier way to fix the fuel flap latch?

A few months ago I posted that the little pin that comes out to latch the fuel flap no longer goes back and forth. Someone mentioned checking the cable from the inside through the rear panel.

I knew the sub was there and there's no sign of a cable so I figured I had to remove the sub to get in there. Well, I finally got around to do that. I got Ebahn and started figuring out just how.

In order to pull out the sub, I have to remove the interior panel. Ok. In order to do that, I have to remove the upper trim and the trim by the rear seat. Ok. In order to remove the trim by the rear seat, I have to remove the whole rear seat bench. I tried that, but can't seem to find the anchors that are supposed to release.

Before I tear the backend of the interior all apart, any other suggestions on getting that fuel flap latch to function again?

Thanks

Default did you try just lubing it? I assume there is no (or a very short) cable.

it's actuated along with the power door locks, so I Would guess there's a solenoid or servo in there. First step I'd take is just spraying around the pin with some silicone while you cycle the locks using the remote.

No, not yet. Would white lithium grease work?

Default suggestion

would you not get access to this item from behind the rr wheel well liner, not from inside?
not sure of this but seems logical. may need to pull off wheel and remove or pull back liner enough

Default It's a great lube for cycling too...

Ahh, what'd you expect from a pacificnorthwest aerospace dude

1oz squeeze bottle about $5

H&R sends it out with their coilover sets, that's why I have it ;o)

BOESHIELD T-9
