Default Any thoughts on some serious weight reduction?

We all know that our beauties are a bit heavy on one site, so has anyone ever spend some time thinking about a healthy diet for the ar?
I guess the challenge is not to spend a huge amount of money on Carbon Fiber parts, that's too easy.
Any good ideas?

Default a) Buy a Subaru.

b) Buy a VW
c) Buy an S6 - though more expensive, no money is spent on Carbon Fiber parts.

Default smaller battery, stocker is around 60-70lbs+!

Remove spare and pump.

Then you go:
Lighter wheels & TIRES!
aftermarket brakes
aftermarket sway bars (check)
aftermarket Catback (check)
Drive with only 1/4 of a tank of fuel

Then you can :
Race seats
CF hood

Then you can:
remove entire interior and swiss cheese the underbody with a 3" hole saw

Default Buy a Lotus mine weighted 1560lbs...

I have a good deal of experience with years of prepping race and track cars for customers. Unless your going racing this is pretty pointless. Are you really willing to give up air-conditioning, power windows, all your radio speakers, power adjustable seats, carpet and insulation. The allroad floor is made from thicker metal then a S6. The yellow bike you see below weights 310lbs and still has its electric start I know what it takes to make something light.

Why? It's not going to be a Race Car, it is a great Sport Touring car as is.

Default Guess I know where you are coming from...did the same with a FIAT UNO Turbo and ALFA33AWD...

It is just like getting the millisecond more, or less, out of the ar. Got beaten by Mitsubishi and just by an inch. So the spare wheel, compressor and tools are already contributing. Wheels are less the stock. I know it's no Lotus ;-), but it has reasonable reserves and thats what I want to discover.
Thanks!

Default Thats too easy..;-) I want to keep my ar, it's way to much fun.....

..if weight reduction doesn't do it then I'll have to keep upgrading the Engine and use more mods, either way, it has to be the ar, everything else is just a "Car".
But thanks anyway.

Default Ahhh... well, you said "serious weight reduction".... =)

There are several obvious things that manufacturers do to provide a road worthy car, that's weight reduced. I diddn't bother listing them because doing them will make the AR less luxurious than any of ther other (lighter) vehicles I mentioned...

* remove all sound insulation - (hundreds of pounds?)
* replace windows with very thin, lightweight glass
* remove non-essential electronics - stereo, AC
* Fit non-power, non-substantial seats/rails.
* start replacing smaller components - suspension arms, hood, wheels, brakes, battery. (Wheels will yield many other gains, being rotating, unsprung mass.)

Think Carerra RS =)

The point is - it's no secret how to lighten a car w/o redesigning it, but doing so changes the very nature of the car. And, it's easier/cheaper to just buy a different one if you want to preserve the luxury.
