Anyone driven a bimmer X3?

yes, during the introduction tour last year.
pretty nice overall. It drove well, and handled better than expected.
on the downside, it needs more power (a v8 option) and I am not a fan of the style - looks like a shoe to me.

I own a 330xi and was shopping for a new car for the wife...
It came down to the X3 and the Allroad. Well the Allroad won. The X3 is a great car that handles well and drives a lot like my sedan. When it comes to power, room, fit and finish, looks, the X3 is no match for the Allroad.

I have tested it
it is nice and drives like BMW but not as well as 500 serie. It is lacking power and if you want to have nicely equiped vehicle you have to put extra 5000- 10000.
Suprice is how much it have space. I believe that is because of how you sit like in chair and not like in car. car looks short and small but it is not much smaller than x5
Outlook. I do not like how it looks high and narrow from front!!

Driven a 3.0 6m sport for a couple weeks. I liked it. Looks better with the aero kit -
The looks are improved with the BMW aerodynamic package - and it's even better with some other wheels, ca't find the pic of that one right now though...
I've had two of them as loaners from the dealer for about a week each. Both had sports packages and 6 speed manuals, which made them entertaining. It was reasonably quick - I had a go with an R32 and was even up to about 50-60, so it's no slouch. Otherwise, it has a high Cg and is cheapish inside and ugly outside mostly from the front.
If it didn't have a sport package and a 6M, I'd probably have not liked it, but it was a fun drive. The allroad is far nicer though...

It is the answer to a question nobody asked...
I have had them as loaners when the M5 was in for service and was not impressed. It handles relatively well considering the high Cg but was useless for carting things. I couldn't even get our garbage cans in the back. The 2.5 engine was pretty gutless too. The only reason I could see for getting one is to use it in an area where there is a ton of snow on the road and no Audi dealers anywhere nearby. The allroad makes a lot more sense. That being said, it was a far better loaner car than the Audi dealer here has ever provided us.
