Default Re: keke... I reread your original post.

Yes, and I completely agree. Car was not bought from Audi-dealer. I bought it as-is knowingly. Before the purchase I had the car checked by Audi-dealer up north, who said about the brake pads being 80%. I now have the car at another Audi dealer in western suburbs closer to where I live and this audi-shop is saying they are not going to do this udner warranty because it is rust related, not use related problem. All I can do is strongly disagree.

Default I've got a couple of questions after reading everyone's posts...

First- Who is the warranty through that it goes to 6/05? Your '01 would have a 3/36 factory wouldn't it? Or am I off base.

Second- did you buy the car from an Audi dealer or someone else.

Third- from paulroad's last post, am I to understnad that you paid this same Audi dealer- the one now charging you $1700- for a prepurchase inspection?

This dealer is a thief. My allroad had to have front rotors and pads replaced at 13,000 miles becaused of warped rotors. The dealer billed AoA something like $600 for the warranty work. And rears would be less than fronts.

A reputable dealer would have at last tried to turn the front rotors to see if the rust removal cured the problem. Or were the pads shot too?

And my father recently had front and rear pads and rotors done on his BMW 530 at his local BMW dealer and I thought his bill of $900 was horrible! Some dealers never cease to amaze me.

Good Luck and keep us posted.

I was told that manufacturer's warranty will go until 6/2005 and/or until 40K. This was from audi service.

Bought the car from non-audi dealer. this audi-service dept is completely different. And this $1700 is charged by this audi-service who i did NOT buy the car from. Pre-purchase inspection that I did was also done by completely separate audi-service in different part of the city. This is the one who told me that pads are at 80% and that the problem is either *warped tires or rust*, car for fact has been sitting in the dealer lot for 6-months. However, this is more than rust, I could with my fingers feel serious grooves in the disc.

Default warranty should be 4/50 not 3/36

so an '01 with a June in service would expire in '05

Pads and rotors? How about $300 alltogether.

Default Wich translates to gouged rotors and a brake job never done.

I suggest you call the inspecting dealer and have them call..on your behalf.. and theirs the repairing dealer.

If you have the pre-inspection report in writting.. I think you have a small claims case against the dealer. This amunition may help them to convince the repairing dealer to warranty the work.
