Blown Tip @ 10K

Blown Tip @ 10K
Was driving along the highway at constant speed and noticed revs starting to climb. Slippage was getting progressively worse, and then the gear light indicator bar lit up, so limped to the dealer (fortuanately there were no stops along the way). When they went to move the car, the tranny was completely locked.
So with less than 10k on the car, major drivetrain failure already. I've never had a problem like this with any of my three other Audi's, so hopefully this is just a fluke. New tranny has been ordered and should be installed by eow.
Love the car, but if I keep it beyond 50K an extended warranty of some kind will be an absolute requirement.

Re: Yes but what if no warranty?
Then you're frazzled. How common are the Tiptronic failures? I'm considering higher-mileage used Allroads, but a Tip-blowout without a warranty would be catastrophic.
