Cheap allroad mods
I bought my allroad two months and 2K miles ago. Love it. First mod was front & rear mud flaps (Clair's ) and paint the brake calipers gloss black (Tire Rack). Important lesson learned was that the epoxy paint directions say to take all four wheels off at the same time. I was using cheap jack stands (3 sided stamped steel) that slipped easily on the painted garage surface. After I scared myself a great deal almost requiring a change of laundry, I did two on one side, carefully put the wheels back on without hitting the calipers, and then did the other side. I have since bought proper jack stands, a creeper, and a hydraulic floor jack.

At the same time I ordered the mud flaps I ordered a cargo mat. I noticed you could not easily clip the cargo net so I took some vinyl covered stranded wire and made a small loop to go around the edge of the mat.

A closer look at just the loop.

Have trouble finding the black pull down handle/cutout in the black carpet trim panel of the tailgate? Try a touch of white foam tape so family members can find it easier.

Yes, like many allroaders, I have a dog (yellow lab) and loved the idea of a bath mat over the bumper.

So where to store the cargo net when you don't need it? I did not want to cut / shorten the pipe so rather than put it straight across like someone else posted, I put it diagonally.

We have a '96 Volvo turbo wagon we almost traded for a new Volvo XC70 but loved the allroad. We kept the Volvo with the luggage carrier we bought with it. Fits the allroad wonderfully. We call it "Spock's coffin" because it is almost identical to the one in the Star Trek movie. I tried to get my wife to wear a bikini top for this photo so I could title the post "Check out my wife's rack...." She wouldn't go for it but go ahead and check it out...

We are off this 4th of July weekend for our first allroad trip from our home in northern Virginia to family in western NC and back. The beige carrier in back is an airline type kennel we disassemble while it is in the car for use outside the car at destination. For short day trips the dog just hops in back with the partition net up.
Thanks to all for great ideas to make life with the allroad better.
Some like Weathertech but complain the lip is too high. I bought the carbox (see link above).

It's where I got the idea for the loops around the mat to the tie down hooks.
Even comes with a cool 'allroad' raised stick on emblem...
