Default Chip now or later?

Doing a self move from WA from WI this winter. Will be a fully loaded wagon and pulling a big U-Haul trailer. I'll probably be at GVW + 3500 lbs towing. I've been planning on a GIAC direct port ECU upgrade on my '01 6-speed w/ 40k miles as soon as the factory warranty runs out (April) but now I'm thinking I could use the extra power for the move. Thoughts for or against?

Default Will the extra HP and weight strain the clutch?

40k is complete. My main concern is will the extra HP and weight put too much extra load on the clutch and other drive train components?

Default

Do it. You'll never look back, except to see those you've passed!

Default I do not think so..

DOn't put your foot in it.. If you feel the strain just flash back with the hand loader to the stock program.

Audi makes a very tough clutch. They learned over the years of quattro development, don't worry.

Default I did, but is was a defective clutch, I had treated it well

wasn't chipped and hadn't towed anything at that point.

No problems since the change.

Default See my post about the flashable hand held unit....

I have 30k on my 03 6 speed and about 5k on the GIAC programming. Well worth it IMO. No Clutch worries.....yet.
