compressor noise
Have a new AR and for the first minute or so in the morning it sounds like a 1980 Olds diesel. Any thoughts on a cure.
Also the check engine light came on with about 250 miles. Am taking it in Monday AM, but thought it might be easier ti fix compressor noise myself than mess with service. Any help would be appreciated

Check engine light cause
The most likely cause is not replacing the gas cap properly. Common rookie mistake. You need to tighten it until the clutch built into the cap makes a clicking noise. Tell the wife, too.
Once you tighten the cap, the "Check Engine" light won't go out immediately. It might not clear for a day or two.

Thanks, butit's not the gas cap. i've got a '01 A6-4.2 where that did happen once. $.2 has been bullet proof. Kind of disappointed in he Ar so far. Kind of wirh I had kept myRange Rover 4.6 at his point. That air compressor noise is drivin me nuts.

compressor noise should not be that noticable, something needs investigating by your dealer.........
engine check light on, compressor noise? Ya, take it in. This is a great car and expensive. Once those issues are resolved you will only notice how great your car is and you will never miss your range rover.

Compressor shouldn't be that noisy
My compressor was noisy (faulty) and eventually quit working. New installed under warranty, 1/2 the noise compared to old one. All allroads are by design a little noisy when running cold, takes about 1-2 minutes to get shifting pattern to normal and engine noise dropped a notch.

Took it to dealer this AM. They found a disconnected "air Hose". Supposedly has something to do with engine and air compressor. Check engine light is out. I'll have to wait until in the morning to see if the noise is gone as it only does it when first started up in the AM.
