Default CPO'd

Hi All

Going to purchase a pre-owned AR, will do all home work etc.

Would you recommned sticking only with CPO'd cars or based on your experiance are ARs that check out good but are not CPO'd a safe bet as well?

I'd say they are equally good; CPO is no indicator of future problems.

It depends on your mechanical ability. If you can wrench go without. If your low on the mechanical ability scale go with an aftermarket warranty. Search for member greatnewcar, he can help with warranties if your interested in one.

FWIW I went without and was doing fine until last month when my torque converter and tranny went. I'm now on the down side of the warranty equation.

Default The actual Certification process is a joke, but worth paying for the warranty

An independent mechanic as well as others on this forum have identified 2 major problems on the allroad -- air suspension and and turbos. Both are very costly items to fix, so I personally would not be without a warranty. Based om my CPO experience -- I think the 300 point inspection is a joke and nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

Default The CPO process depends on the dealer; some good and some not so good.

As for turbos and suspension being weak points, well I find that only to be true from a performance standpoint, not from a longevity standpoint. Sure, you may have to replace an airbag at 100K, but they're not too expensive. And non-chipped cars using VW 502.00-approved oil seldom have problems with turbos.

Default Re: CPO'd - Q: What aftermarket warranties are available?

I just had DCH Audi in Maplewood NJ tell me I was foolish to buy an AR from a non-CPO dealer....I would rather not pay extra for their incompetence (long story). What options are there for aftermarket warranties other than using AoA CPO?.
