Delay going into reverse

I notice sometimes if I shift into reverse there is a couple of second delay? Does not do this all the time its kinda random. Thanks

I have noticed the same thing with my 03. I had a new tranny put in at 60K and complained to the Audi dealer about the lag in going from reverse to drive and vice versa. The service mgr told me that was normal and just part of the programming on the trans. Would like to hear from some others on this issue.

i have noticed it on many a trade in vehicle. there's the whole foot on the brake safety thing on the ATs. maybe that has something to do with it./

It is normal for the allroad. Real pain when you need to do U-turn in a hurry and need to reverse and go forward, expecially when folks are waiting for you to get out of their way.

Does the same with my 01.
Normal I've been told.

Funny though how that tranny has made me a calmer, smoother driver since I've had it. Tiplag, and then that delay between reverse and drive, combined with the tranny's reputation for being fragile... I'm basically driving it with white gloves on.
