Default Delivery Checklist & Break-in Period

My Highland Green 6-Speed (with Convenience, Premium, Wheels Upgrade, Bose Upgrade and Sunroof) is off the boat and on its way to the dealer for delivery in a couple of weeks or so. I know there have been some discussions about what to check for on delivery and break-in periods, but I'd like to get some current, quality input from fellow allroaders out there...

- What are the critical items to check for on delivery specific to the allroad? (I know windshield wipers have been a concern...anything else?)
- What is the true recommendation for breaking-in the allroad? I know there are general Audi guidelines but does anyone have more detailed insight on what is best to do in the break-in period and for how long, etc.? (I'm picking it up in Montana and will be driving it back to Seattle so I know I'll need to be running through the 6-Speed pretty consistently to vary RPMs and not go 100 MPH+ on I90...which will be difficult but I can hold back!)

Your insight is much appreciated!

Thanks.

1. First 300 miles, Audi recommends you go easy on the brakes.

2. First 1000 miles, vary your speeds, don't drive on the highway at one speed for a long period of time, don't use cruise control.

I've always broken in cars the way I plan on driving them - but you still want to be a bit careful during the first 1000. Check you oil level as well during break in.

Other than that, you'll find that the first 1000 goes by pretty quick!

Keep it below 4,000 rpms for the first 1K.

Default Ok. Anyone have time for a formal checklist for this allroad forum?

Jordan
I found the delivery checklists that I used. There were two main ones I used
that are on the AudiWorld A6 forum site:
BAR 2.7T on 2001-02-28 10:45:05
SK on 1999-10-28 17:26:46
You should be able to do a search for those specific names on those dates to get
directly to them. A general search might lead to updates or newer lists as well.

I also got a good list from a BMW site at
http://e46fanatics.com/faq/checklist.html, it's for Bimmer's but I found it
enlightening.
The other non-Audi site I found helpful was called the Motley Fool. There is a
test drive check list and a delivery check list:
www.fool.com/Car/Worksheets/TestDriveChcklist.htm
www.fool.com/Car/Worksheets/DeliveryChecklist.htm
I would also suggest going back through the allroad forum to see what kind of
problems others have had. A few specifics that I remember for the allroad:
- run the wipers a couple times to be sure they aren't going to collide
- check the hose connection on to the radiator over flow tank
- have the tech's check the alignment (I discovered my rear was way off only
after the 5000 mile service noticed the pre-mature tire wear.)
- check to be sure all the accessories are there: cargo net, tool kit with tow
strap, spare tire, owners manual w/ Audi pen, floormats, first aid kit.
Finally, I would encourage you to pick up the car in the morning when you can
plan on spending as long as you need to do a complete check. And be sure not to
sign any papers or accept delivery until everything is to your satisfaction,
even if that means waiting a day or two until they have corrected any problems.
Good luck. Let me know how it goes.
