The fact that the 4.2 has no turbos to fail, and no timing belt , and instead a cahin has me seriously favoring a 4.2 model.

Wasn't there some issues lately with timing chains being hard to find?

To the OP - if you still need some bits, we have snub mounts and headlight washer pumps (click me) for you. In terms of recommendations, are you plan on aggressively modding your 2.7t?
Well, I've got this TB to do, the front axle/cv's, and the front rotors. I'm trying to decide what level of brake upgrade I want to do, whether just go with higher quality pads and rotors or a kit to upgrade the size. I will be getting the H-Sport sways as well. I will eventually chip the engine, and when it's time to replace the turbos will go with a K04 kit at a minimum, but who knows when that will be.

I thought saw some really nice "race" engine mounts somewhere online I thought of purchasing, just can't find them now...

Race mounts exist all over the net. Most are poly or solid bushing which don't wear as fast as the rubber/viscous OEM bushings but also dampen less as well. So essentially you get a bit more engine vibration into the cabin - but you know your mounts are solid. It is a form/function equation.

AS for braking, a good rotor and pad combo will work wonders for you. I just got some recent feedback from a New England Allroad'er who picked up some slotted rotors and hps pads from us. He has been happy for the last couple months with that setup siting noticeably better braking. In the interest of saving you a dime, you might not want to worry about a BBK until you cross that K04 bridge and need to slow down a bit faster.

We've got new front axles available for your as well, and only for a bit more than replacing CV's. I know it sounds silly but a replacement CV is annoyingly dirty to replace, you might just want to go replacement for the marginal difference in price?

Drop me a PM and I'll be happy to put together a cart for you and discuss some recommendations. If you'd like to shop around yourself - driveaxles and braking components can be found at those links.
