Fitting non-OEM Recaro
Hi,
I'm looking at fitting a Recaro Ergomed DS to my AR. I have been looking for the OEM Recaro interior for a while but they rarely come up on eBay. If they do, they are the whole interior (which I don't need) and are expensive.
I am looking at an aftermarket Recaro seat which I can get for around ^1k here in Europe (second hand).
The aftermarket seat doesn't have a side airbag. I presume it's possible for my dealer to deactivate the driver's side airbag so I don't see the light on the dash?
In terms of wiring the new seat - has anybody any experience of this? It could be straigt forward or it could be a job for a specialist.
I know there are safety concerns not having the side airbag, but a new non OEM Recaro with the side airbag costs about ^2.5k and that doesn't inlcude fitting or a base frame. It's difficult to justify considering many of the cars I owned prior to the AR didn't have side airbags.

There's a resistor used to turn off the airbag light. Might try searching the b5s4 forum for
resistor and airbag and there should be a how-to article. I believe o.w. kenobi (username) may have a how-to link in his sig, too.
