fixed the wheel shake today with vag com, >>>>>
Hi, im new to the allroad, but not to audi's. well after buying my allroad, i noticed a wheel shake at 40 to 70 mph. pretty constant, and i assumed a wheel was out of balance. did a search here, and found that this was a somewhat common problem. so instead of getting the wheels rebalanced, i decided to fark around with vag com and did the following.
esp wheel "zero" in 03 abs.
the "402" mod at 402. just wanted to zero it.
guess what,
no more wheel shake.!!!!!!!!

Can you explain further, I have a similar problem?
I was going to have the tires balanced, but now I think your fix may be what I actually need.
My wife drives around on level III almost ll of the time, since it helps her bad back when entering and exiting the car. I have not 402 modded the car. Do you think the vag-com could still eliminate the vibration?

yup, here you go....>>>>>>
i did them both at once, not sure which one fixed it.i lifted the car up and checked all bushings and cv joints ect.., all seemed fine. the tire still had the balance weights on, so i tried this first and it worked for me.
search for the 402 mod, i keept mine at 402 all around,

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/steeringangle.html</a

if you raised the front end you probably have CV on it's way out.
allroad's go through outer CV joints, often the passenger side first. Symptoms include a vibration during acceleration that is more pronounced at lower suspension settings.
I also had a shake that was temporarily fixed by raising the car via un-402-modding. but eventually the shake came back and I had to replace the axle.

steering angle sensor would not cause the problem you wrote about.
the sysmptom of a out of zero esp/steering sensor is power loss and braking when you turn at any speed. The car 'thinks' it about to spin out so it compensates. This is not a likely cause for the vibe at speed. A bad CV Joint is a likely candidate.
