Default Going from B5 S4 to possible 2003 allroad.

Hey everyone.

I used to own a 2000 B5 S4 until about 2 weeks ago, when I sold it. (never chipped, no HP increasing mods). I have been in love with the allroad ever since it came out, when I was still in high school, beginning the love affair with the Audi brand...

My first car was a leased 2002 1.8t GTI, and then I purchased the S4.

I am currently overseas until August, and, as a car guy, have been thinking about my next purchase just about everyday. One that keeps popping up in my head is the allroad (along with B5 S4 Avant).

My question is, have any of you made the transfer from an S4 to an allroad, and what sort of major differences have you found? (pros/cons) Anything that you miss or prefer about both cars?

And finally, does anyone have a link to any online "allroad buyers' guide". Anything I should look for?

Thanks in advance!

And here's a pic of the old car...

Default B5 S4 Avant would have high resale...

There are still a few of these and a fewer number coming out of a lease as a CPO. If you opt for the 6SP M you won't have to worry about which one to get. You'll soon realize that the 6SP M in the AR & B5 S4 Avant are becoming a highly sought after car.

It seems a lot of us have come from VW land. Does this mean I'll see everyone in the used Lambo forum in 5-10 years? I Hope so.

Cheers, Michael '02 6SP M
RNS-e, XM, ME-3, Phatnoise, Dietz 1417, Dietz 1380, Amplified TV antenna, TeddyB's custom harness, Submarine antenna, Using every diversity antenna on rear quarter windows, VAG coded for remote window up/down, auto door lock at speed, NAV+ appearing on DIS.

Your already here. As girlroad said, check the FAQ and the search the archives. This site is invaluable for info on purchasing an AR.

I spent a good 4-6 weeks on this site before even shopping for an AR. Ended up with slighty used 04 6 speed that I love. Way heavier than your SR and handles as such but there is a lot you can do to counter that if your willing to mod.

Default What is an S4?.............just kidding ;-).....You could try to determine the Pro & Contra for

your buying decision, and as others mentioned, use the allroad FAQ site to get a different angle on everything.
To achieve an S4 "attitude" with the allroad is limited by the size of your wallet, but it will never really become one, even though they share the same size engine.
The allroad was build for a different Group of people, actually sold as an SUV-kind of a car.
We like to call it "Urban-Area-Assault-Vehicle", but it can surely put a smile on your face if competition is an issue.

Have fun shopping.....for a 6MT ;-)

Default Sure, and I acknowledge. I'm just wondering if any of you have done similar, and if any...

...have any opinions on it.

Thanks. =)

Default Ahhhh... Silver B5, the best color! Coming from a B5, I doubt you'd be happy in an

UNmodded ar. The soft air suspension blows. A good test drive is a must. If bling is your thing, IMHO, the ar is the best looking of the bunch.
