Default No oil residue. I thought the MAF would not throw a CEL? could it be a bad plug? It's been

about 60K since they have been changed.

Also, I changed out the CP's between cyl. 5 and 6 just to make sure I didn't buy a bad CP and it still continues.

Could be a bad plug; only takes a few minutes to pop it out so well worth a try...

Default I think he's referring to the doo-dads on top of the air box...

if you unplug and switch them around, the problem should jump to the other bank of cylinders. BEL engines dont' have these. Since your car is an '02, you should have them. Post a pic of your engine compartment if you're not sure if you have them.

I'm with pr, 100% its a CP. Mine acted the same exact way. Always travel with two in the car/VAG.

Default So I changed out the coil pack and it is still having the same problem.......

I stopped by auto zone to pick up a new CP, swapped it out in cyl. 5 and still have the same symptoms so my thought it is not a bad CP. I then swapped the original CP from cyl. 6 with original from 5 to make sure I wasn't sold a bad CP.......still having the misfire in cyl. 5.

Am I missing something here? Wouldn't the misfire jumped to cyl. 6 if it was a bad CP

Default Re: So I switched these over this morning and the misfire did follow over to # 2 cyl.

Am I looking at a bad Ignition Control Module?
