I don't think North America will get the A4 based allroad for the same reason De Nysschen stated we won't see a TDI based A4 in this model generation.

Since the A6 is a new generation it makes more sense to diversify with TDI and allroad since the model cycle is young and the payback period for homologation is longer.

Spoke to my dealer yesterday (Awesome Rector Motors in Burlingame, CA). Both sales and service guys say it's a done deal. The new A4 based AR will arrive in April!

My dealer tells me that the next allroad will, in fact, be the A6 version, not the A4. Further, I am told that the car will not be just a different version relying on visual cues and styling differences....they are told to expect a "real" allroad.

I will believe it when I am sitting in the car!

Only A4 Allroad

Ironically, I bumped into the owner of Rector Audi this weekend. He was driving the new A8L (great car). When I talked to him about a future Allroad, he said to only expect the A4. The A6 version is too expensive to produce.
