Default Instrument Cluster Failure - A Call To Arms!!! Please Read!!!

Ok, it seems that there's a post about every week about the fading LCD screen in the instrument cluster on our A6s (and other models) no matter what year and engine. Even if yours hasn't started to fade, there's a good chance it will start to.

I sent a message into Audi of America yesterday and a nice lady named Delores called me back today. Apparently, they do not see this as a widespread enough of an issue to do anything about it. However, they were going to log me into their database, and that if they receive enough messages regarding the issue, there is a better chance of a recall or some type of assistance. Who knows if we're enough to make a difference. But, for 5 minutes of your time you can send a message regarding this issue to AoA. I am going to cross post this into other discussions that make sense. Spread the word to other Audi forums, local Audi groups, friends, whoever will listen to you. We shouldn't have to shell out $1k to get this fixed due to bad manufacturing and engineering. Let's take a stand!!!

http://www.audiusa.com/audi/us/en2/forms/customer_relations.htx</a

Default Mine ( 2001 allroad ) - started fading about two years back

the car was less than 4 years old but had more than 50k miles so, was out of warranty.
This is a good idea, I'll report to audiusa.

Default Link is dead...fix it and I'll post....

I had two clusters replaced on my first A6 for this problem. Faded out in my second A6 but never fixed. My S4 is about 1/2 faded out. My A4 is un-readable.

Right now, the allroad (2002) is good but I know from experience it's only a matter of time.

Default In 2004 Audi started to use an improved cable and attaching procedure that supposedly

cures this. Who knows, we'll see in a couple more years what happens to the later cars.
