Instruments (not LCD) failure?

Instruments (not LCD) failure?
Today I noticed my the fuel and temp gauge stopped working. Also, the LCD display would only show outside temp. I checked the fuses and reset the ECU (by pulling the batter cables and connecting them together to drain system memory). No change.
Later this afternoon, I took the car out for a ride and now I have NO tach, speedo, temp, fuel gauge and the cluster displays only outside air temp.
I pulled the cluster to make sure the connections were good and left the key in the aux position for 25 min - saw that tip on the forum. NO CHANGE.
So now I HAVE NO SPEEDO, TACH, FUEL GAUGE, TEMP GAUGE, TRIP COMPUTER - WITH THE EXCEPTION OF EXTERNAL AIR TEMP AND THE ODO WON'T READ MILES.
Thinking the cluster is gone? Will VAGCOM Lite diagnose the problem? HELP!
