Help!!!!!!!
I'm trying to understand the integrated phone and software for my 2004 Allroad. Bought the pre-wired cradle and accessories and want to use my new Motorola V60S but it doesn't work. Local dealer says I must order the factory phone because of special hardware. That phone is a Motorola V60i and it's over 12 motnhs old and no longer supported by Motorola or sold by Verizon. Local dealer also wants $600 for this piece of trash.
Can anyone tellme about my options and why I can't use my V60S? Why shoudl I pay $600 for an old phone that if broken, can't be supported?

The Audi V60i has special "telematics" software. Other V60i phones won't work.
And no, they will not reprogram another V60i to work with the on board system. The good (?) news is that if you do get it, Audi should not have trouble getting another one if it fails.
Unlike normal phones, the carriers cannot subsidize the purchase of the phone, Motorola likely charges Audi more for these "special" phones and Audi does make a few bucks on selling them to their customers. Not that they sell many...
FWIW, I used to work for a company that had a contract with Motorola working on a project with these phones for another German auto company.
