I've been stung by the TcQ!
I brought my recently purchased '04 to the dealer because of CEL and told I need a new TcQ at only 35k miles! At a cost of $3k! Luckily the CPO will cover it.
I can't recall the VIN but I suspect the build date was prior to 24000.
Will doing a GIAC TIP chip improve the durability of the TcQ? Will it also make it strong enough to handle a Stage I ECU hp gains?

Shouldn't your car have already the upgraded, tougher version installed? Go L10 and be
done with it.....when the ar was barely new, I've been running a GIAC tip IC and Dahlback Stage2 (360HP) for about 50K miles on K03's - no issues.
My TqC went out on stage3 with 115K miles...

Or go vast.

Jim...a chip has nothing to do with making a TC stronger.
It just reprograms the shifts of the car.
As far as making your tranny it stronger, you may want to contact VAST as grey-2002 said. They now have a very good tranny mod.
