I've converted....to Road Force Balance...
OK..I'm a believer. Asside from the fact that my wheels need to be replaced..I had the new falkens on front and had balance vibes. I wnet back to the butcher who put them on and he rebalanced.. but still all week long I had the vibe.
I found Performance Installations in Valley Stream NY. Audio, Video, Wheels by any and every manufacturer..(i think) and the newest Hunter RFB system.
I think $40.00 PER TIRE was alot even for RFB, but the guy did spend about 20 minutes on each and the results could be felt at the first drive.
THe tires were normally out 1.50z on the outside... .50 oz on the inside. Onw wheele did the RFB at 27lbs. the limit was 26, but they were able to balance it so the machine said PASS. There wer o imperfections detected in the rubber itself and the wheels were within the norm of round.
In the end.. I feel the difference. SO I suppose it was worth the $80.00

I've been a believer for years....
In fact, I even have new wheels and/or tires RF'd. Never know what you're getting. And the machine will even tell you if you should turn the tire on the wheel to minimize weight needed. I recently had a RS6/ GD-D3 that said it needed more than 4 oz total weight and was out by 30 lbs. But the machine suggested turning the tire on the rim by about 90 degrees. Result- only 2 oz total weight, and only out by 20 lbs.
Wish my bad tire could be cured that way. Still on back order and still causing vibration. Oh well. Glad it worked for you.
BTW- my local Discount Tire doesn't charge me any extra to RF as long as I purchase their Tire Warranty, which coincidentally is about $15 per tire. But it's paid for RF, replacement of tires with nails in sidewalls etc. Good investment in my mind.

Les Schwab...
If you live in the Pac NW (including N. CA) most Les Schwab's use RFB--at least they say they do. I had my summer tires put on by Co. X and the next week went on a 4 week road trip. As soon as I hit the freeway, major vibes. Stopped at a Les Schwab in Hermiston, OR and 1 hour and $39 later was back on the road with perfect balancing--the guys were very conscientious and did a great job at a great price.

I found this helps
I clean the wheel mounting points with a rotary wire brush, both mag and hub.I have found this helps get a good seat, corrosion and rust can make slight imperfections that even if torqued can cause slight runout. I've never had a tyre place clean the hub area. Of course I also make sure the inside of the wheel is spotless to start with.
