I've left the fold......
Sorry to have to report that I have moved on from the AR. The near-constant need for repairs (both minor and major) have necessitated the change. I underestimated the time I would have available to tend to such things, and with a working wife (an attorney, no less) and two kids under four, it was just not something I could achieve. This forum is a wonderful resource; one which kept my enthusiasm for the car high despite the constant tending it required. In the end, it was more about my needs than the car's. I will check in from time to time, I'm sure. You all have created a wonderful and supportive community and I hope it continues for the sake of all the current and future allroaders out there.
Thanks again and happy motoring!

I pretty much drove subies all my life until I got an AR
And I considered going back for a bit. I compared what they offer now to what I could get in an AR, and it didn't seem worth it.
A few of the reasons I prefer Audi to Subarus:
- Better performance
- Better built engines means I don't have to deal with junk like Subaru's engine conditioner scam
- I actually get answers from Audi, whereas Subaru gives customers the runaround
- Stops faster
- Handles better
- Adjustable suspension
- More comfortable seats
- Quieter
- More intelligent interior layout
But I deal with the repairs issues. With Subaru's whole faulty head gasket fiasco, I can't trust them anymore. With all the blown engines, the only reason they didn't go under is that they refused to do anything except for those who really complained.

Take care. Bought an '07 Outback for my daughter. GREAT car for the money.

Found it at a local dealer with 1,700 miles. (NOT a typo!)

Sorry to hear you had to downgrade and that you found your ar to be unreliable..
Like many/most owners, we've found our ar to be a quite reliable trouble-free vehicle. Better than most. On the other hand, Subaru, I understand, is not noted for its reliability. I hope you have good luck with yours.

I'm sitting on the fence
I've got 108K and am waiting for the next big thing to let loose. Between the trans, alternator, and right front strut air bag, it has been costly to repair. The alternator and the air bag I would consider wear out items, the defective torque converter and resulting damage to the trans is another matter.
The problem is finding an all wheel drive wagon with all the good things that this car has and not spending more than 60K for it. Here is a new model that looks interesting,
I'm going to stop by a nearby dealership on the way home this evening and take a look. They have a sedan that was ordered by a customer, so no test drive, but at least I can get a look see.

New hot wagon
