Just picked up my 2003 Silver 4.2 Allroad!
Just picked it up on Friday from the dealership. 1st one in Canada they tell me. It's fully loaded silver exterior with platnum/ebony leather interior. I love this car. It has ZERO tip lag like the 2.7T and feels much smoother to drive. It doesn't feel as fast because you don't get the rush you do when the turbo's spool up but just a very smooth constant accelleration.
Next week it gets an Abt exhaust system which should give it just the amount of 'snarl' it needs as it's too damn civilized right now!
Will post more in the future -- I'm feeling the urge to go for a drive right now.

Re: Might be the first one in NA! Congrats and send pics...
It's definately not the first. While I was waiting for mine I had the option of getting a burgandy/tan one from a dealer in Toronto about 4 weeks ago. I think the burgandy/tan is not very pleasing to the eye so I passed. Also a couple available in Vancouver as well but none with the color/options I wanted (and nasty dealer gouging on pricing). I'd say that I've seen spec sheets on about 8 different 4.2 AR's now that have been delivered to dealers in Canada. I did hear that Canada gets new Audi's and VW's sooner then the USA due to certification reasons. I have already seen many Passat W8's prowling the streets but I understand they are just arriving in the USA.

Re: We all want to hear that 4.2 exhaust note. Post mp3 files.
It'll be tough to post a before as it's so quiet you can barely hear it at idle. Amazingly quiet.
I'm hoping the Abt fixes that as I want a bit of a snarl from it but not your typical 5.0L mustang with exahust wet farty noise or the rice-box with a 6" muffler tip lawn-mower type racket.

...(and yourself as well): use some calipers to see what sized rear stablilzer (anti-sway bar) the 4.2 has on it.
If it has the 15mm one (standard on all our allroads), you'll want to consider the bigger one as a modification. There's been lots of discussion of that here, and I think all of us who have done it endorse it.
If it already has the 18mm stabilizer, well, damn, that's points for Audi and yet another more good thing about the 4.2 version. HPH

they don't sell, although when they first showed up back in March, they were hard to come by and went for a couple thousand above sticker (that's $20k Canadian
