Kudos to the forum for recommending the Garmin Nuvi.....
Got it for $549 at Walmart.com. I was able to plug it in and navigate right out of the box. Can't wait to take a long road trip in the AR.

Does the Nuvi require PC based support of any sort (alt. is it mac compatibile, and if not what features might be missed?)

All US maps came preloaded, but additional Europe and travel...

Oh! And never leave the suction mount on for more than you need. One: it sticks to the glass, Two:
it's a dead give-away to thieves. If they see the mount then they'll break in to see if it's in your car.
