Model differences 2001--> 2005
In the market for an allroad... I've searched but can't really figure out the exact model changes from 2001 to 2005 for 2.7T car?
What exactly has been updated? Looks like body is a bit different, anything mechanically or electronically that's been updated?
Also, HOW UNRELIABLE is the Air suspension?

Any mechanical chnages/upgrades between model years? For instance I know that 2.7T engine on S4 was upgraded in 2001.5 and 2002 models. So, is that the same for Allroad? Like the later 2.7T is the upgraded one? Or has the suspension been upgraded between years?
What about visual changes? I saw in Edmunds review some body panels were different on 2005 model... any specifics on that?

The exterior panels are the same in all years. Edmunds is wrong unless they mean paint.
Air suspension is generally unreliable in a longevity sense. When components are fresh it's 100% reliable.
The most content was 2002 for the 2.7t motor.
Visual changes were the full body paint option and differing radio antenna's (noted at allroadFAQ)
2001-02 have engine code APB 2.7t 2003-2005 have engine code BEL 2.7t. Software changes in the ecu as well as some component changes. This change is perceived to be nominal and does not change the performance. The allroad started with the updated motor the s4 went to.
The chart on allroadFAQ was set up to show the differences.. i.e. the cars are very much the same in all years.

How does the 2002+ front brakes compare to HP2s (from S4)? Those were pretty good on S4, I assume they did that mostly for cost.

I can't believe what a stoke luck of I've had. My year Allroad has the HP4 calipers and the enemic Girling G60 calipers are actually a direct bolt on upgrade for my '90 VW Corrado G60. G60 brakes for a G60?
