Hey all! Just purchased an 02 with 51k on the clock, and as I am a rookie Audi owner, am sure I will have questions about this car.I am having way too much fun driving it 160 mi round trip on my commute. Any special maintainence tips to prolong this cars life? Any problem areas aside from early tip failure? I'm sure these areas have been addressed in other posts, but I don't have a lot of time to sit down and search. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm... I bought mine about 7 months ago with 44k on it. I've had to replace the cam seals, a cv joint, the climate control unit, secondary air pump, a level control sensor, rear hatch sensor, the ECU software is due for an update and a bunch of little stuff. I had mine checked out by an Audi dealer before purchase, and luckily I bought a 3 year 40k warranty.
The most common problems (based on nothing more than my observations reading this forum a bit) seem to be the cam seals, cv joints, tip torque converter seal!, and leaky suspension air bags (the latter two I'm waiting for).
allroadfaq.com, a vag-com and this forum are indispensable resources.
As far as preventative measures, do all the regular stuff and synthentic oil is good. The tranny fluid is not really a 'life-time fluid', and changing it about every 60k wont hurt (whether it will help the TC seal issue has been debated, but I doubt it).
In spite of all the trouble I've had, I think the allroad the sweetest car around, congratulations. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. May the force be with you....

Thanks for the info! Is that a WA plate? I live in So. Oregon. Anyone know of reputable mechanics in the Beaver State? I also purchased a 3 yr warranty, having reaped the benefits of it on our Land Rover.
Thanks again,
