Default O2 sensor spacer project... not so good. What now?

Thanks to the good advice from everyone here, I tried to install the following O2 sensor spacers into the allroad...

<a href="http://www.mcpii.com/engine.html">Oxygen Sensor Spacer</a>

...but there just is not any room to install them without seriously modifying (ie: removing and cutting away) the down pipe/cat shield to allow them to thread in. This is simply beyond my capabilities.

OK, so the least expensive route did not work, guess I am back to replacing the cats at the dealer ($$$) or getting after-market down pipes? If the latter, who makes any for the allroad? It is a 2.7t engine.

What about these?

Or these?

Default Tip or MT ? If your tip piggies are normally the best option...

as the only other alternative I know of is Milltek and it runs like $2400. Vast might be good as you would get new cats, and always better than doing it yourself, which wouldn't solve your problem anyway. I see no where that they say the core has to be in perfect working condition, just that they may charge an extra $100 for a bad cat (extra $40 for bad flex joint).

If you have an MT you have a lot more options AWE, ASP, APR, Milltek and a few others. The MT DP is a lot cheaper.

Second link is only for the S4 as far as I can see, it has to be for the A6 with 2.7T.

What is the code you are getting? I told you that the spacers are for secondary sensors, not primary

Default +++What autosolutions said...

for those (myself included) who have added spacers, they are the simple BUNG...ie a 18mm thick type that just moves the O2Sensor further out of the path. The right angel par you you are trying as you found..has no room.

Default 18mm anti-foul adaptors for spark plugs work fine available at most any auto-parts chain store

.but you didn't here it from me.

I have had less than 20% success with the bungs, I usually wind up relocating behind the cat.

Default Yeah, but he is trying to put them on the primary o2. Moving the primary o2 sensor out of the

exhaust stream with a spacer would cause all kinds of a/f ratio problems since the ecu actually uses them unlike the secondary sensors which just monitor cats functionality.

Default Business if OK.

I'm most likely buying a new house. My sister(runs 2 Coldwell Banker offices) found me a nice short sale which 2 years ago I would not have been able to afford.

I'll get the nice 8k tax credit from Uncle Sam that doesn't need to be paid back also! : )

Default Isn't the primary sensors before the warm up cats?? How can they...

signal that the cats are going bad? It should be the sencondary o2's and in that case, antifoulers should work on the secondary o2's.

VAST sells anti-foulers. They also sell piggied DP's.
