Oil level minimum warning
I was driving my '01 on about a 5 hour trip through high-altitude (around 4,500 ft) mountainous highway and suddenly the oil level minimum warning symbol popped up in amber on the display. I have never seen this before, but the strange thing is the oil was just checked the week before and it was NOT low. The only way to get it off was to put 1/2 litre of oil in, but when I got to my destination and let the car rest overnight, the oil level was fine the next morning.
Anyone had this happen to them before?

Right on
I'm amusing myself picking up cars in US and bringing them to Calgary for a dealer. Drove an 08 A6 3.2 from Manheim PA to Calgary (2300 Mi/3 days) and, just arriving, got the yellow "low oil lite". As oil was at bottom of stick, added some. I suspect long hard driving in fact uses some and adding a little corrects it.
