Ooooo! Ahhhh! DTS and H-Sports. What a difference.
So I got an AWE DTS and H-Sport sway bars put on the allroad today, along with Custom Alignment's supah-dupah alignment work. Boy-o-boy is the car transformed. It was stock before, so my Journey to Modsville has just begun.
The DTS has eliminated almost all of the rubber-band feeling when I get on and off the gas. The tranny isn't moving around as I shift, so shifts are much more precise and quick shifts are easier to do with confidence. Big improvement. Slight, but noticeable increase in structure-borne drivetrain noise, but well worth it.
H-Sports and a custom alignment have vastly improved the cornering. Flat and much less understeer. I'd say it was neutral, but it is an Audi with the engine in front of the half-shafts. The car was aligned with the rear camber a bit less negative than the front, which makes the car more neutral, I'm told. As well, the front camber was evened up, from being .4 degrees different side-to-side. Of course , the work was done with my impressive bulk duplicated by barball plates in the front seat. The H-sports contribute to the reduced plow, of course, and they certainly keep the car flat. The inside rear corner barely lifts at all.
In general, the car feels much more competant. Driving aggressively used to feel like I was making the beast do something that was not in its nature. That has changed.
Alright! Bring on the 18's. I must need exhaust, downpipes, a chip, big brakes, a hood scoop, flames....<neck twitch> Aaack phfft! <passes out on keyboard>
Oh, where am I? Did I mention I got a DTS and H-Sports installed today?

So, still running stock wheels/tires?
I'm thinking hard on the H-sports, but wondering if the gains will be "lessened" if I am still running stock wheels/tires. Thats another mod for the future so just thinking about whether I wait and do it all at once or piece by piece.
