Default Painting Calipers...

I love the brake kits you guys are doing, but can't afford to do them right now. Could i take off my wheels and paint my brake calipers with a brush and little patience with out having to disassemble anything? If so, any paint recommendations?

Default tire rack sells caliper paint. you need some really high temp stuff

if you want it to last. the tire rack set apparently comes with some pretty good instructions.

Default I went with the Tire Rack stuff. It is epoxy paint, meaning the clock is ticking....

Once you mix the two parts together the epoxy has a time limit. Wash and dry the wheels & brakes before you start. Be ready to pop the wheel off, clean (I used a dry toothbrush), paint and put the wheel back on and move to the next wheel. You won't have a problem putting the wheel back on if you are careful not to rub it against the caliper. I'm not a fan of putting the entire car up on 4 jack stands to do it the way the epoxy manufacturer directions suggest. I'd recommend you have some one help you so you can do all the jacking (remember the level buttons you need to press on our allroad) and wheel removal in the alloted time. You should remove all 4 center caps and loosen (1/4 turn or so) all the lug nuts before you start. When you put the wheels on, just snug them tight and then when you finish all 4, torque to the final setting. I went with black like my car and you don't notice the paint. My mistake, wish I had gone with red.

It is an easy and fairly cheap mod worth doing.

AudiWorld's tech section article (photo shows a BMW, what's with that?)

Default Found this done with Dupli Color...

Default

I used "VHT" brand, the red has faded quite a bit in the last 6 months
