Pilot Sport A/S update- Michelin took them back and reimbursed me in full....
Tires had maybe 5 months and 6,000 miles on them. Tread depth was 8/32. Reimbursed me 100% of what I had into them including tax, mounting, balancing; and they even will reimburse the Discount Tire store for the commission paid to the sales person.
Initially, they offered to replace the tires with whatever I wanted, but no other Michelins in 245/50-17. Then they said they'd give me any 245/45-18 if I just paid the difference. But only make A/S, Pilot Sport (too noisy) and BFG KDW (too harsh riding). So they reimbursed.
Have to say that Michelin stepped up to take care of a known problem. Their final comment was that "the tires are just too advanced for the cars they are being put on." Benz, BMW, Audi? Not advanced?
Anyway, ordered F1 GS-D3 245/45-18. Now I need to get my butt in gear and decide on wheels.

Very very good news, but Michellin makes a few other Pilots in the 245-45-18 size
Ed: That is awesome! Are you sure that you don't want to try them? They supposedly have ordered up a set of Pilot HX MXM4 tires in that size. I did a search and Michellin makes several other models in that size as well in H, X, Y,and V ratings. The H's were out of the question of me but there are other softer sided tires that are a good performance / ride compromise. You can see other choices at Tire Rack. That may be where D/T is getting them from as I didn't see these offered from their site. At any rate great news and I hope that this takes care of your issues!!!! Let us know what you decide.
BTW- Got your E-Mail and appreciate your comments!!!!!

I experience the "hop" with my P6 Allroad tires
I am an infrequent vistor to these forums, but this thread caught my eye.
My 02 Allroad has skipped to the right over bumps since I purchased it with 7K miles. I sent the car to get aligned a few thousand miles later, and there were quite a few things out of alignment. Most notably, the right rear wheel had approx 6 degrees of toe out!
After the alignment, the car rode very well, no skipping to the right.
A couple thousand miles later I noticed the skipping again...
To the people with problems with the Michelins, have you had your alignment checked?
I am not convinced that this is a tire issue, rather a suspension issue- I feel the car goes out of adjustment very easily. I have also had a problem with tire cupping, likely due to the suspension going out of alignement so easily...
