Default As Paulroad says.......

It could be alot of things. The symptoms you describe are exactly what I had a couple months ago. For me it was balance (Roadforce Balancing did the trick). But as Paulroad said if it isn't the tires it could start you down a painful path with the dealer that could get very frustrating quick.

Have you had them balanced with a Hunter GSP9700 ("road force", "ride match" balancer)?

Default Regardless, with 13k, they can probably be tossed out. Get the 245/50-17 Dunlop SP5000's IMO...

...which are MUCH less expensive than Pilot Sport A/S's without the sporadic reports of incurable vibrations when combined with the C5/allroad chassis that seems to be a problem with Pilot Sport A/S's.

Thanks for the advice. Glad to know I'm not alone with the vibration issue -- or crazy. Given the price of these cars, they should ride like glass. My assumption is that even if it turns out to be a balance issue, the tires themselves are subpar and I won't miss them. I'll talk to the tire guys locally tomorrow and see what they say and what they have to offer in the way of rubber and prices and then go from there.

To be honest, I don't know. The dealer did the rotate and balance and one would *hope* they'd do it correctly. (Riiiight.) I know that when I first picked up the car, the tires had not been properly balanced -- the dealer said Audi was supposed to do that. I took it back and they promptly balanced the tires and the ride smoothed right out. It's only been in the last 6-8 weeks that I've noticed the vibration.

How are the Dunlops in snow and ice? We had 80 inches or so of snow this year in the northeast and I need good wintertime handling...

Default Have no idea with the snow (live in Houston) and it was really not a factor...

...the only reason I got an all-season at all was for the off chance we saw some snow while taking a trip in the winter or spring. I'd suspect they're a "typical" all-season tire in the snow. There are also only a few 245/50-17 offerings even out there to pick from -- this one seemed the best, all things considered.

Default "...whole car is subtley trying to give me a massage."

Hey, that sounds like an undocumented feature. Lucky guy.

I had to pay extra to get that on my other car!

Default Just went from OE Goodyear AR F1's to Pilot A/S and...

the ride is smooth as silk at 50-120mph on smooth freeways, huge difference from the F1's. However, my one complaint is that the tire seems to amplify irregularities on some roads more so than the F1s. This may be realted to the tramlining issue some experience with the Pilot AS'(I have not experienced this yet). But overall, I would do it again. Have 1200 miles on them now are run them at 37 from and 35 rear. I would definately start with your local Audi dealership first though.

Default Ah-- the famous A6 "wobble" --more---

My '02 A6 wobble could not be fixed--and Audi took it back--I selected a'03 Allroad--it has slight wobble but not as bad--new set of tires wobble mostly gone until I got miles on tires--now its back--its the nature of the beast--some wobble some don't--new tires help for a while--this will be my last Audi--Good luck!
