If you want fun and sporty, European Sport Sedan sporty, the allroad is your best bet. The 2.7T and the Tip, especially if you get the shift buttons on the wheel, are a match made in heavan and a hell of a lot of fun. My wife likes automatics I like sticks, volia! The Avant doesn't have the 2.7T and is a much slower car.

The Volvo XC isn't even in the same league. Under-powered with a mediocre AWD system. No way I'd get the Volvo in an automatic, that's for sure. And the allroad can give you more clearance than the XC. Further, the allroad can get down low for high speed cruising or fun twisty roads. Eelevated cars and SUVs pose a serious rollover risk in high speed collisions. The allroad solves that problem.

14 Feb issue of a German magazine "Auto" compares 6 wagons in mountain conditions, snow and wet surfaces and ranks them: Allroad "Grunes Licht!", A6 "Grunes Licht!", BMW 330xi "Grunes Licht!", BMW 330i "Gelbe Karte!", Volvo V70 AWD (cross country) "Gelbe Karte!", and Volvo V70 2.4T "Rote Karte!".

Sorry- In this article they mixed traffic light and soccer referee signals (with color symbols for each). They translante green light, green light, green light, yellow card, yellow card, red card.

I was not surprised by the superiority of the Allroad (wish I owned one), but was surprised to see how well the front drive A6 did compared to non Audi AWD vehicles.
