I'm trying to deceided between a b5 S4 Avant or an Allroad. Is it possible to get service/warranty work history on the car from the dealer? Can you do this even if you purchase a car from a non Audi lot or private party? As we all know some of these cars have problems. I don't want to inherit someone elses problems.

I did this with a dealer that I used for service. I wouldn't abuse the option, but if you got serious on a car they can pull the records. Once you own it they certainly can as well. It will only show stuff the audi paid for so it wouldn't show non-routine oil changes etc even if done at the dealer.

...purchased mine from a VW dealer, but have it serviced at an Audi dealer. If you kindly ask your service advisor, they should be able to pull up the history by your VIN.
