I went to pick up my son from school today. I don't think I have ran the compressor on the AC yet this year. It's been cool enough for econo. Anyway I turned it on, had to run inside and when I got out of the car the compressor kicked in and made a loud crunching sound, it seemed to be OK after that so off to school I went. Well I came home there was some fan that sounded like a jet engine running ( never heard that before either ) that slowy wound down like a jet engine. My son was like, WOW DAD, IS THAT A PLANE? OK, so I go in the house, come back out a bit later and it smells like an electrical fire ( closest smell I can think of ) burning in the garage. I turn on the car and check it out, seems OK? Any experiences like this? There was no visible smoke that I could see and I looked hard. My wife came out in the garage and said, "good greif whats on fire?" The good news is, I'm still well under warranty.

and perhapos the belt got fried.

r steering) you would think that would be noticeable. clutch on compressor would probably slip before recking belt i would hope but would stink too.
