Default Question for those with SS braided brake lines...

Did you get enough improvement in brake feel/performance to justify the cost?

For a daily driver it might not be necessary but if you track the car and add Motul DOT5 or so, it is truly an improvement. No more fading or the brake pedal getting "longer".

Default I don't intend to track the car but,....

I notice that on warm days, the brake pedal travel is noticeably longer. It can be downright scary sometimes!

Default I'd try having the brakes flushed first before changing the lines. More likely

your brake fluid is getting old. Warranty should pay for that every 2 years, assuming you're not over 50,000 miles.

Any time I've changed out to braided lines (usually on Porsches, so can't speak to Audis), there is only a marginal change in pedal feel, which can often be attributed to having also flushed the fluid at the same time. It's extremely rare for rubber brake lines to go bad these days.

Default Second that; brake fluid should be changed frequently otherwise you'll get this long pedal feel

For the first few times when the car was on the track with Stock brake lines; changing the fluid prior to the event made all the difference.

Default Yes...

However I'd strongly recommend ordering them at least 1" longer than the OEM rubber ones they replace. Rubber lines stretch at the extrememums of the suspension travel while the rigid SS/Teflon lines don't. They gradually break strands instead. Very dangerous...

I have also heard one other cautionary tale regarding SS brake lines. Be sure to get ones that have a clear coating over the SS braid, such as vinyl, polyurethane, or some other coating. This protects the braid from getting snagged or hit with debris and fraying, making the lines worse, not better than rubber.
