Question for you AR guys re: towing.......
I'm considering adding a 4.2 AR to my stable and was surprised to see from the Audi website that the 4.2 is rated at the same towing capacity as the 2.7T. Is this a typo? As a comparison when I bought my Expedition with the bigger V8 it increased the towing by 1,500lbs. I'm not looking to tow anything that heavy (that's why I have the Expy) just a couple of jet-ski's / ATV's. Any thoughts?

That is not a typo. The towing capacity seems to be limited by marketing people, not the engine. =)
If you do a search, you'll find various discussions on UK vs US tow ratings for the 2.7T allroad. There are big differences.
Logic, however, would indicate that the 4.2 will tow with less effort than a stock 2.7T. But, I don't think anyone has felt the allroad even slow down from a couple thousand pounds in pull.
Rather than just adding the ar4.2 to your stable, you should replace the Expedition with it. =)

Re: Question for you AR guys re: towing.......
Official towing capacity more related to total weight, brake capacity etc than to engine.
Anyway I suppose that the 4.2, with great torque and without the turbo lag issue of 2.7T and especially 2.5TDI, is by far the best AR for towing.

Would love to replace the Expedition with the 4.2 ar if......
it can tow 5,000lbs, fit 3 kids + 2 dogs + bikes + luggage + crib..... Sometimes I think I should get an RV with all the stuff we pack!

Well, the UK tow rating is 5600lbs...
There are people pulling about that much over here too, though the official rating in the US is only 3300lbs. Like I mentioned before, I doubt there'd be any issue with a 4.2 engine. =)
As for the stuff - Definately get a (huge) roofbox, on 58" crossbars. I'd much rather have a giant box on top, than a giant vehicle behind. The wider cross bars will make it easy to keep bikes on their too. Of course, if the dogs are too big, you may be out of luck. =)

Good idea on any tow vehicle...Heat is the enemy of your trans.....
You add an external transmission cooler, usually in front of the radiator, to keep the trans oil cool.
Had to do this on my last 2 Suburbans and our current Explorer EB V8.
On your Expedition, if you have the tow package, there is probably already a trans cooler in front of the radiator.
Audi RS4's have an external cooler IIRC because of the extra load placed on the trans.
