Question From your Younger A4 Cousin

A4orce84: It's a sleeper...
I already have a RWD performance sedan, and an AWD SUV (wife's) in the garage.
I wanted to put the sedan away for the winter, and started looking for a tweener that didn't skimp on performance. Having driven a Jeep for 10 years, I knew AWD was the only way to go in the ice/snow.
I drove all kinds of AWD Crossover wagons and near-SUVs and just kept coming back to the allroad for its power, passenger space, height adjustment, fit/finish, and wolf-in-station-wagon's clothing appeal.
Now my wife races me to the garage each morning to "trade" the allroad for her SUV for the day.

The better question is WHY does your friend want an SUV
If the answer is 'tow my 26 foot Grady White' or 'traverse the Rubicon trail' or 'seat 7 adults comfortably' then there is no need to look at the allroad.
In reality, if your friend is the typical SUV buyer who wants some cargo area and a versitile vehicle for the rigors of daily life she may be surprised how superior the allroad is.
If the motivation to get an SUV is the typical female "I want to sit higher so I can see over everthing" then there is no use in even talking about the real attributes of any vehicle selection.

Re: So another question
An S4 Avant 2.7T should have better power/weight ratio and cornering ability.
But if your friend wants shoulder space, cargo room, and ride height variability, the allroad would still be my choice.
