Default remote program or not?

I spent all last night with the locksmith trying to code two keys and remotes. Keys are an issue that will take too long here but after getting two keys to code and one remote my turn indicators stopped working. There are a couple of things that happens- with the vehicle running the turn signals ( left or right ) will stay on steady- no tripping of the relay. OR with the key on and engine not running it may blink 3-4 times before they lock up OR with key on and engine off they lock up without blinking at all. AND sometimes a light in the instrument cluster lights up- two turn arrows with a number 1 in the middle. During the programming process the panic alarm went off twice without anyone hitting the panic button. Sorry if this subject has been asked before, I'm in a crunch for time and don't have the internet connection to surf the site very long. Thanks for any help. ZUGBTAR

Default What are you using to "code" the keys...

Are you using the method I used on my '98 A4 where you insert the key into the lock while holding the button or a VAG tool? I'm not familiar with how to code keys on a AR.

Default My dealer gave me the "new" style remotes last month; even he had to download new software before he

could code them for me. I had to go back the next day. One documented feature of the new style is the ability to store all climate control preferences including button and vent settings.

Not sure what he ran the software on.

Default Re: What are you using to "code" the keys...

Thanks for your input. The locksmith ended up using three different computers over a several hour period. One machine read the PIN number but could not program the keys, one machine was able to program three of four keys and the third computer (the oldest one) was able to program the fourth key that could not be programed before. I had a chance to look at the site and found a couple of simiular posts so I removed the hazard switch and replaced it and that seemed to take care of the blinker problem. Locksmith said the system may have been "stuck" between modes but I don't know, he was as clueless as I was. Thanks again for your help.
