Default REVO v APR update. Looks like APR will be marketing their flash program shortly...

Little birdie told me that APR will release their flash program in the next few weeks!

Seems like the REVO issue forced their hand and they are set to release their existing programs via flash memory. APR had a flash program all along but didn't market it because of security concerns- it is easier for them to encript replacement eproms so they can't be copied than it is for the flash program.

This will be their tried and true programming without opening the hood. Select dealers (APR not AoA obviously) will install the program by hooking the car up to their Windows- based computer, dialing into the APR site and downloading the program live from APR's server direct to the car.

I'm first in line!

Who says competition isn't good for the consumer?

Default What about the updater?

Any word on whether APR will produce some sort of hand-held flash-updater, like the Revo device? Or would such a device be unnecessary if you used APR's switchable technology?

Default This is GREAT, three calls to REVO and they went silent on me!

However, does APR have a program for the 2003 2.7T allroad (6pd trans if that matters to the chip?)

And, is the APR version the program I read about here on AW that had "issues" that, from one perspective, could make the car die? Hate to have that happen when I was in need of enough "urge" to merge.

What is the skinny on the APR algorithm?

And how does one go about "signing up?"

Not sure, but sounds like it incorporates the APR switchable technology.

Default Wow, lots of good questions, wish I had all the answers. My source is understandably..

quiet on some of this.

Don't know about '03, but they do have an '02 allroad program.

Don't know about issues, but my source is about to take delivery of an '02 6 speed and already has the APR prom for the car.

Sign up? Talk to your friendly APR dealer and see if they know the skinny.

Default But, APR's map has been on a 'Flash Memory EEPROM' all along...

Actually, they all are - stock too. =) And APR has always had an in-home Flash Programmer - it just needed to be plugged into the ECU's board.

So, I assume you mean that APR will start programming via the OBDII port, like Revo is doing? If so, that's fantastic news!! Thanks for the scoop. =)

If this works, is there any way a dealer can tell what you have none???

Default Should be no different than whatever APR provided in the past...

i.e. The image in the Flash chip should be the same - I'd presume? So, if it appeared to be stock before, I'd guess it would still appear to be stock. If it was detectable before, it probably still is.

Sorry, that's not a great answer. =)

Default Exactly- flash via the OBD port. Supposedly switchable programs like today...

so that you can toggle from stock to performance to valet modes.

this could be the hot setup.
