Default Should I buy a used Allroad?

I am considering buying a used Allroad (2001 or 2002). What do I need to know about this car?
At what mileage do things start to break?
Are there any known issues I should look out for?
I am a little concerned about the air suspension. Has this been a problem?
Thank you for any info you can provide.

Default May I suggest to do a search on this forum first? All of your questions have been posted a dozen

times at least. And with all due respect - like any other high quality car; things can go wrong or break at anytime. Preventive Maintenance is the key to an "easy minded" ride.

Air Susp. - 96K miles - one problem (Control Module went south at 80K - after the car was on the lift for 3 weeks for K04/RS4 upgrade)

Default Why? It's not like the rest of the chatter here isn't repetitve about wheels, tires...

oil, wax, iPods, etc!

Default Great idea....but do you think that AW will be able to compile this for every platform or car?

It would be a huge effort just to search and collect all the info we've put on this forum over the past few years. This new User/FAQ link would have to cover ALL recent models, correct? And things keep changing or improve over time.

Somehow, I have this feeling that AW will come back and say "this is why the Search function has been improved to cover these kind of requests".
Just a thought.

So in the end...we only can hope that new Users utilize the search function to a good extend, with a result that would nail down questions to a minimum.
And we just have to help every new user to point them into the right direction....nice and polite of course ;-)

Default Paul, excellent idea. I am on the X5world forum and they have a FAQ area. I was able to get up and

running with problems, mods etc in no time!
AW just do it!<ul><li><a href="http://www.x5world.com/">http://www.x5world.com/</a</li></ul>

Default If the B5 S4 group doesn't have one on AW, there won't be one for allroads...

Someone can compile a list like Stoney's, though and host it somewhere else...

Default some of the stuff changes though, 0/5-30 was recommended oil at the start but has changed to 0/5-40

being the better choice because of audi's tech bulletins. tires have changed too, but the only interesting things i have seen lately(past year or so) are the suspension mods. : )

Default I tried the search button.....!

Ok guys, I tried the search... I tried
"buyers guide"
buyer
problems

NOTHING!
tell me what word to search for!
I want to know if an allroad is going to cost me a fortune to maintain, or i should go for a 3.0 wagon.
I don't need the Allroad, but love the idea of the car, just the gadgets scare me a little!
They are selling quite cheap right now, I was surprised how low, and it makes me wonder why!?
Are they problematic once you hit a certain mileage?
I have been looking at the BMW 330xi, but the Audi wagon really interests me more, providing it will not cost me more to maintain.
So, some help would be appreciated.
A noobie guide would be great, but until then, someone please point me in the right area!
