Default Spacers again

what was the problem some folks were having with running spacers with their 18" wheels? Was it only an issue with narrow (5mm) spacers or would it affect all spacers? What is the secret sauce modification that Achtuning does to get around the issue.

Who is running H&R spacers with success? Thanks.

Default I can't recall any actual probs being mentioned.....only blanket "spacers are bad" comments.......

I can't see why good quality hubcentric spacers would cause any problems. Spacers are very common on offroad vehicles running huge tires and subjecting the drivetrain and suspension to much more stress than our allroads will ever see....

Default I recall it was a fitment problem with their replica wheels...

the spacer hub angle didn't match the cutout angle on the rim, causing the spacer hub to shear off. The new spacers that Achtuning made corrected that angle - for THEIR replica wheels. For other brands, the H&R spacers work well. To avoid this problem, I think you just have to make sure that the spacers fit exactly into the back of the rim (without any wiggle).

Default The "custom" spacer originally delivered with the wheels did not seat properly...

to the face of the hub, so that when the wheels were torqued down, the flange on the spacer was simply crushed. No 10mm spacers were/are available with a hubcentric flange that will fit the allroad hub. I went with a 5mm H&R, which has a bevel that fits the ar hub, and because it is only 5mm allows enough of the hub to remain exposed for centering the wheel. My wheel is 18x8.5, et30, and I am running 255/45 tires. I have just enough space to clear the control arm. No rubbing.

rims and tires if you can't find any local to make sure they work. you would just need to return them before spring : ) oh i have longer bolts too if you wanted to mount tires to car.

Default Thanks much for the offer. I think I understand the situation now.

Since I am going to be BBS wheels I think a set of H&R spacers will work fine. I am going to go with 15mm spacers with my 18x8.5 ET32 wheels. This should be more than enough for clearance and in fact should give an aggressive appearance as well.

I am going to source the H&R spacers and bolts through my local tuner (Induktion Motorsports) and have asked them to research the proper fitment so if anything doesn't fit right they will work with me to find the right solution.

Thanks again.
