Tire fit for 2003 Allroad
Hi All,
I am thinking about putting some 18's my AR with the Sportech Mono 10's. Anyway, I have an interest in a Goodyear Dealership, and thus would highly benefit from using a set of Goodyear Tires. What would happen if I put on a set of 255/45 R18's as opposed to 245/45 R 18's. WOuld the front wheels rub while turning?
Thanks for the info, I really enjoy reading the posts on this site.
P.S.
What am I doing wrong in trying to post a picture as my signiture?

I don't think anyone has tried 255/45/18, but an 8.5" rim width might be on the narrow side for this width tire. Of course, if you try it and find it works, let us know. =)

Thanks itacud,
I will check it out with my buddy and see what he thinks.
Also, I am now kicking myself with the signiture post! Hopefully it will work now.

Re: Tire fit for 2003 Allroad
I asked my dealer and he said that the allroad is based on the "A6" -- the standard A6 (3.0 or 2.7T) -- only the S6 and 4.2 A6 have the nominal clearance for a tire this wide. On the other hand, my best guess is that it probably would only rub at the extremes.
I copied this from the allroad project car write up here on Audiworld -- note the percentages mentioned.
Again, with my money on my car, I would keep the width to 245 unless some "expert" could demonstrate that is was 100% OK to go wider.

Your dealer is not fully edumacated... =)
The allroad's body panels are completely different than any existing A6(2.7,4.2) or the S6.
The A6 has a narrower track, and the 2.7 has narrower fender flares. The S6 has a slightly wider tire, but also has a lesser outside diameter.
In the end, direct comparison really isn't possible, other than to say the allroad has more room for wider tires than an A6 2.7T, and comparible room to the 4.2/S6.
