Uh, HELP! Electronic immobilizer needs resetting?

i have a 2018 Audi S5 Prestige. the other day my car wouldn't start, then the alarm went off. the message it got was "remote key not recognized". i put the key onto the center console spot where you reset the key. the car started again. I was told by the dealer that the key wasn't the problem--that the issue was the immobilizer. Car has been in the shop for 3 days and counting. any suggestions from you experts?
