when it goes away, so does the misfire. Been driving around with the VAG COM all weekend trying to figure this out.
Before I buy up parts, any suggestions?
Thanks for all the help.

The ticking is your misfire...had this happened just before Watkins Glen and it was caused by
2 different faults: bad Spark plug and later on a failing MAF.
In order to eliminate a possible bad coil pack, exchange it with another cylinder and get the readings again, this will confirm the Spark plug should the same Cylinder receive identical faults.
Also try to get some MAF cleaning Spray (moderation does it here).....just in case, otherwise you should see variable idle speeds and a short blow of black Exhaust fumes. But all of that is optional ;-)
