Using Techron Concentrate fuel system cleaner?

I've been getting my gas at Safeway for the last several months and I recently read about Top Tier gasolines (http://www.toptiergas.com/). Now I'm thinking my car would probably benefit from a helping of Chevron Techron fuel system cleaner additive. Anyone here used Techron additive? Would you recommend? Also, I've read some comments elsewhere that Techron (or any similar fuel system additive) should be added prior to getting an oil change, since it can (in theory) penetrate the seals and get into the crank case oil - though Chevron does not specify this in the use directions. I'm 6K miles away from my next oil change (I use Mobil 1 and change every 10K miles), so next oil change is several months off - rather not wait that long. Will adding Techron now have any negative affects on my oil?

I put some additive in my AR about 1k miles ago and did not notice any difference although I did change my oil within about 300 miles of putting in the additiive, but just by chance, I had not heard about the seals.
