Vacuum Cleaner Noise

Vacuum Cleaner Noise
Hi All. My '02 now makes a loud vacuum cleaner type noise on start up and randomly while driving. This is NOT the normal start up noise. It is not part of the HVAC system either. It seems to be coming from the top back center of the engine bay. Thanks for any info/help you can give me.
PS-Do these cars have a 50k/4yr timer on them or what!?!

This is the veiw from the back of the engine. Perhaps the center connection has come loose (where the arrow points) or even one or more of the 4 outer connections.
I'd also 2nd the TBB tear possibilitiy. Also maybe check your diverters while you're at it.

Hoses, Hoses and more Hoses to check......and my guess is that you are losing power if that noise
occurs.
You could start off by checking the small Vacuum hoses around the Diverter Valves, located left and right of the Throttle body. Every small leak will trigger this sound.....if it's not the Turbo lady.
Also monitor your exhaust fumes while driving - if they turn dark grey then......well, sorry...
There is also the N75 Wastegate bypass regulator valve, if you stay in from of the car then remove the left engine cover. You'll find the Valve sitting in a Rubber mount, 1 electric 2-pin connector and 3 boost/vacuum hose connectors looks like a "T" setup - > picture.

Be carefull, it's easy to break because the Valve extensions are made of plastic.

Hope this will help a bit in finding the Gremlin ;-)
