Default VAGCOM can't communicate with suspension control module

2001 allroad, 2.7 tip. Car is slammed, No air
rebuilt pump including cylinder, piston ring, desiccant, cause it was trashed from overrun in the past
valve block was rusted inside so replaced it, new one is clicking well
all bags replaced over the last 2 years
no leaks that I can hear or see in a bubble test

Trying to do output test and halfway through the control module disconnects and can't be read. pump runs and gets to 1.3 bar in the reservoir even though the res valve is closed. Nothing moves and it gives up. pump shuts down even though temp limit hasn't been reached, can't reconnect with the control module without disconnecting battery for a second. My guess is that the control module is fried, instant reporting is laggy at best or just non-existent, ross-tech plug is beeping red when it disconnects, other systems can be read without blipping out. Why else would it disconnect instead of reporting problems with the valve body or pump or something other than blipping off? What's your take?

thanks in advance
