Default Water leak into pasenger compartment

After having my 03 allroad (no sun roof) washed I noticed that there was a trail of water running down the passenger footwell. It is coming from underneath the dash somewhere. Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Any suggestions on where to look. I assume it may be from the well underneath the platic cover next to the battery but any suggestions from previous experience with this problem would be appreciated.

Default Maybe condensation from your A/C compressor? My dad's car used to drip

on pax feet trying to cool down on hot, humid days.

I have had the same problem on my '01. Dealer took 3 attempts to fix it, ultimately putting silicone under the windscreen surround and plastic fairings under the bonnet area.

Default Roof rack?

I have a 2001 ar which had leaks around the roof rack which ended up with a puddle on the floor. Turns out this was common problem with the 2001's. I thought surely they had corrected this by 2003, but who knows.

Default My 03 had the same leak and I found the problem.

Only in a car wash that the water will find its way down behind the glove box onto the passenger side floor (underneath the mat).

Audi service pointed out that my problem was when the windshield was installed at the factory, there were positioning blocks that were suppose to be removed after the windshield is set. Well, they were left in and created a gap for the water to run down through the front cowl into the passenger compartment. Check on the outside of the windshield at the base where the black moulding should be bonded to the glass. Mine was warped out and I could stick my fingers in it. The next thing to check out is when water find its way into the car thru the cowl, the outside air pollen filter will be soak, and moldy smell will follow.

My Audi service guy had change out my warped moulding, reset and reseal the windshield and replace the pollen filter all in the same day.
Hope this will help.

Good luck,

Default On a previous Audi I had this happen

It was a plugged drain for the Air conditioner. the water that condesnsed on the compressor was failing to drain outside and was overflowing into the passenger footwell.

it put water amost 2" deep in the passenger footwell.

not sure if this is a potential problem for the allroad, but it is probably worth checking.

MoMan my bet is that you and kiwicobber have identified the problem. I will check a bit more tomorrow but leaking around the windshield base appears to be the culprit. Thanks for the help.
